How do I fill a new mail order prescription through Health First Family Pharmacy?

To request a new mail order medication, you can choose from the following options:

  • Complete the Health First Family Pharmacy order form, and send it to Health First Family Pharmacy along with your hard copy prescriptions from your doctor (mailing address listed at the top of the order form). You can also have your doctor call or fax us your prescription.
  • For extra forms, call Health First Family Pharmacy at (321) 434-7355 or (866) 469-1506, Health First Health Plans at (321) 434-5665 or (800) 716-7737, or go back to the Family Pharmacy main page to print additional copies.

How do I refill a medication through Health First Family Pharmacy?

You can call them at (321) 434-7355 or toll-free at (866) 469-1506, fill out the Online Form on the Family Pharmacy main page, or return the refill order form provided with each prescription.

How long does it take to get a prescription filled by mail order?

Normally, it takes 10-14 business days to receive a NEW prescription.  For refills, you will generally receive your prescription in 7–10 business days.

What amount of medication can I get through mail order?

If you have insurance through Health First Health Plans and your plan includes a mail order benefit, you can get up to a 90-day supply of your medications through mail order. Please note that regardless of the amount you order, you must pay the cost-share associated with the 90-day supply.  As a result, we recommend only using the mail order program for 90-day supplies. Certain restrictions may apply.

What if I’d like to begin using the Health First Family Pharmacy but I have a credit with Ameripharm?

Contact Ameripharm at (866) 744-0621 to discuss your options.

Can I have my prescriptions delivered to my Post Office Box?

Yes.  Most prescriptions can be delivered to your P.O. Box, unless they are temperature sensitive or have other special handling requirements.

What is a “specialty” medication?

Specialty drugs are generally defined as high-cost drugs requiring special handling (e.g. refrigeration), and may have one or more of the following characteristics: injected or infused, limited access to few retail pharmacies, and require additional clinical support to maximize a patient’s outcome.

How do I know if my medication is a “specialty” medication?

Specialty medications are currently marked with the symbol ** after the Tier number on the Health First 2008 Commercial 5-Tier Drug List. If you are a Health First Commercial member (non-Medicare) you can obtain your specialty prescriptions either through Health First Family Pharmacy or through Circles of Care pharmacy. Please note that not all specialty drugs are available for a 90-day mail order supply.
